Abstract: Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks have altered the landscape of the content distribution in the internet. The recent developments in mobile technologies have opened room for deployment of novel content sharing services for mobile networks. Although P2P applications have been a popular research topic during the last years, very little academic effort has been put on applying P2P applications in the mobile environment. In this paper, we propose a new architecture of Mobile Peer-to-Peer (MP2P) content sharing system. The system transports P2P control traffic in Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) messages. We found it beneficial to implement this system as a part of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) making it interoperable and compliant with modern Third Generation (3G) cellular networks. The results of the conducted trial are encouraging.
